Winter Trend: Military Style Jacket

Thursday, January 19, 2017

If you happen to have a military-style jacket stored somewhere at the back of your closet, you should dust it off and start wearing it immediately! Yup, this mid-winter is all about layering it with silk blouses, cashmere sweaters or simple cotton tees.

Btw: I just found two that seem ideal for right now. What do you think? Thumbs up or down?

P.S: Speaking of blouses...
P.P.S: Plus, this winters' go-to hat.

Snowy Kyoto

Stunning! This past weekend the city of Kyoto in Japan got an unexpected, yet totally welcome treat in the form of a fresh blanket of snow, turning this beautiful place into a white wonderland!

Snow is a big deal in Kyoto anyway, but especially when it stays long enough for people to actually enjoy it. Now I totally fancy a trip there, you? Have you been to Japan?

P.S: Remember this deer city or that awesome gem?
P.P.S: Also, don't miss our beautiful print GIVEAWAY this week!

Favourite Print Giveaway

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

Today’s giveaway is from Harry Diaz, a brilliant Guatemalan born illustrator and graphic designer who lives in Los Angeles. Harry's prints and illustrations are influenced by Maya weavings and his practice explores visual elements, including minimal geometry, patterns and graphic icons. He sees his imagery as a visual language, which can be interpreted differently by each person who views it.

Today, Harry is offering one lucky reader a chance to win their favourite print from the entire shop. How special is that? As a minimalist at heart I'm head-over-heels in love with this piece and this one too, while Balazs has his heart firmly set on this beauty.

For a chance to win, you should be a follower of exPress-o, please visit Harry's shop and tell us which print is your favourite. As always the giveaway is open worldwide. The winner will be chosen at random next Monday morning. Good luck! xo

For extra entries:
Re-tweet the giveaway, follow Harry on Instagram, tag a friend on instagram, follow exPress-o on Instagram, join the exPress-o group on Facebook, follow exPress-o on Twitter and please make sure to leave a separate comment for each entry. Also, please include your email address, so I can contact the winner. Thank you:)

Secret to a Happy Life

Meet Tao Porchon-Lynch, the 98-year-old yoga instructor who just became my new hero! She has been practicing yoga for the past 75 years and recently made a little video for Athleta where she shared her wisdom on happiness, yoga and life in general.

Besides the obvious, the incredible truth is that Tao is the true example of what our life can become if we make a conscious effort to be happy, healthy and balanced…

Here is a little yoga tip that she shared in one the follow-up interviews and it really stuck with me:

'If you do postures without the breathing you will never change anything...When people are known to breathe properly they can survive and do anything. Nothing is impossible when you are in tune with your breath'.

P.S: Have you seen her TEDx talk from a few years ago? Brilliant! Plus, tons more on this wonderful lady here...
P.P.S: A beautiful GIVEAWAY is coming up later today!

Make Your Home Smell Like a Coffee Shop

Tuesday, January 17, 2017

Speaking of coffee...fancy making your home smell like a cozy coffee shop? Just fill a small saucepan with water, add a sliced apple, two cinnamon sticks, a few star anise and half cup of coffee beans, then simmer throughout the day.

The scent is magical...

P.S: Fancy more?
P.P.S: Hmm, thinking about making this tonight:)

Coffee Niftiness

Ha! Did you know that adding a pinch of baking soda to your coffee grounds before brewing will make your morning joe much easier to digest? Especially if you have a sensitive stomach. Supposedly, most store bought coffees are naturally overly acidic and by adding a bit of baking soda, you easily neutralize some of the naturally occurring acid in the coffee.

Also, according to Meghan, the addition doesn’t change the flavour of your favourite drink whatsoever, so no worries there!

Will you try it? I definitely will:)

P.S: Also, this and that.
P.P.S: Plus, more here...

Herbarium Collages

Here is something for those of us who love flowers...

Ivan Knyazev is a Moscow-based photographer who recently created this beautiful collection of herbarium collages. Their rather subtle and romantic vibe makes me wish I could frame them and hang them all around our flat. Pretty, aren't they?

P.S: Mammasaurus :)
P.P.S: London bloom.
